Both PB ranges were based on Phil Barker's books Armies of the Macedonian and Punic Wars and The Armies and Enemies of Imperial Rome. This figure is taken from illustration 13 in the first edition of AEIR.
The code numbers for the AEIR range correspond to the illustrations in the book plus '100', i.e. illustration 1 is figure 101, and so on.
The base is stamped PB 113 on the upper surface in the usual manner.
A lot of the figures in the AEIR range bear these rather long descriptive - and often latinate - titles! Essentially, this is your classic legionary from the reign of Nero through the Flavians and into the reigns of Trajan and Hadrian. This covers a great chunk of Roman history including the British revolt, the civil wars that brought the Julio-Claudians to an end, the Jewish War, wars against the Parthians and the Dacian conquest.
Many armies were built using this model back in the day, including my own. As with all of the PB range there was a 'thick' and 'thin' version of the pilum, this being the thinner one. It is very prone to breaking off at the tip.The fact that the figure is in marching position does tend to mean all your hard work painting that shield design goes to waste because the shield is facing the side!
